grey to green!
Description
POPUP focuses on upliftment through life
skills training and skills development as well as support services including
medical services. The goal of POPUP is to alleviate suffering, uplift the
community, change people's destiny and ultimately work towards the ideal of
transforming the city.
The organisation’s limited vegetable
garden needed to be extended so that they can meet the need to feed. To do this,
the team had to move the paving and clear and prepare the area to be transformed
from grey to green! Construct the vegetable garden borders using paving bricks.
Fetch, fill, fertilize (prepare the soil for planting).
Currently the organisation has 45 – 50
children. Once the garden is completed they will have 100 children.

Feedback from the project
What we needed done was to extend the
organisation’s limited vegetable garden so that we could meet the need to feed!
There were 10 fantastic AVI - Denny
Mushroom volunteers. This group really exceeded my expectations, not only did
they established the vegetable gardens and plant the fruit trees, but also
cleaned up a huge area, worked in the garden, fixed the fountain and now weekly
donate 100kg mushrooms for our food program.
In my opinion the project was a huge
success! The volunteers had excellent team spirit and were definitely not afraid
to work. Everybody jumped in and in the end accomplished much more than
expected. It is exceptional for a group to perform like that. Not only did they
establish the vegetable gardens and plant the fruit trees, but also cleaned up a
huge area, worked in the garden and fixed the fountain.
Thank you very much! It was of great
help and a blessing.
