out of the box blitz - sorting out the donations

Abantu Social Upliftment was founded in 2000 and is a registered Section 21 Company. Abantu Social Upliftment trades as “Out of the Box” and is geared towards skills development and job creation. “Out of the Box” is a non-profit organisation that will sustain itself by applying business models which will be self supporting over time, and will reach many people and truly make a difference to South Africa.

Volunteers were needed to help s sort through various items that had been donated to the organization. Beneficiaries are unemployed, uneducated, unskilled South Africans as well as the people who buy the amazing products made by the students.

Feedback from the project 

We needed the assistance of volunteers to help us sort through various items that had been donated to our organization. The items varied and could be anything from fabric to stationery to tools. Four people volunteered on the day. They sorted through donations, helped lay donated carpet tiles, pack donations into the correct classrooms, deliver donated magazines to a squatter community, and with just about anything and everything… I have never seen anybody work so hard.
