Description
The Pillsbury Child Care started in March
1999 with a vision to assist, care and stimulate the disabled children. The
organization started as a day care centre and since then we have developed a
boarding care. The boarding care started its operation on the 4th September 2006
with 15 children. Our focus is to develop and stimulate profoundly challenged,
mentally challenged and physically disabled children. The objective of this
centre is also to give the parents opportunity to go look for employment as we
have realised that it is a difficult situation to look after a disabled child
and still be employed. These children need special attention and care and we
have qualified care givers who are passionate. Over the years we have worked
closely with the children, enrolled them at schools and have an adult centre
where these children can learn basic skills and handwork.
We were asked to arrange a Christmas party
for 40 disabled children, which we did, and at the same time provided a Father
Christmas costume, food, hampers and small Christmas gifts.

Feedback from the project
A wonderful, well organised Xmas party.
Unfortunately, at the very last minute, we were forced to change the venue. The
venue was on a children play ground, but due to the rainy weather we had to move
to the dining hall. The volunteers were all truly great, they really went out of
their way to ensure that the children have a wonderful Xmas party that they will
never forget. Our working relationship between the care workers and the AVI
volunteers was excellent and successful. The volunteers were so helpful in
preparing to feed the children and thereafter cleaning the place where the
function was held. At about 14h30 the party ended.
The Chief Executive Officer and head of the
facility would like to express a very great thanks to your team management and
your volunteers in organisation for the children's Christmas party.
