lungisa entrepreneurial development project
It has always been a priority when selecting our CSI projects to work in areas where we have business interests, and in townships where our employees reside. It was therefore decided to introduce this project in Rosslyn.
Employees at the Snackworx factory in Rosslyn were approached to introduce unemployed adults from the area to participate in the programme, and 15 matriculants were recruited for our course Inhouse Wiring and Domestic Electrical Appliance Repairs, based on the national qualifications framework.
The training is outcomes based, short, practical and focused. All students have now learnt a valuable skill, and are in a stronger position to set up their own small businesses or secure employment. Total sponsorship of the programme was R136,000. Trustees will review the success and value of the project with a view to further sponsorships.
